Breast Biopsy Procedure in Pooler, GA
A biopsy samples a small amount of tissue to discover the nature of an abnormality or area of concern. When a breast biopsy is necessary, different techniques are available. A stereotactic 2D or 3D breast biopsy uses mammography to guide the biopsy. The procedure will feel similar to a mammogram, and you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area before the biopsy needle is inserted.
Ultrasound-guided biopsy is also available. This method requires no breast compression in a mammography machine. Ultrasound guidance is used in biopsy of the breasts, axilla (armpit regions), and many other body areas, such as the thyroid.
Whichever biopsy method you undergo, our team at The Center for Women’s Health will ensure you’re as comfortable as possible. You can reach us at (912) 303-5470 for appointments and questions.
